In the 90’s as a young woman, I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.  After many years of diverse work and life experiences, including my own parenting journey, I founded The Parent’s Place in 2017, to answer the calling I felt to uniquely support parents in their own developmental journey as leaders of the family.  Parenting is joyful, important, and complicated!

The Parent’s Place is a perfect way for me to combine my personal passions for continued learning, creativity with ideas and words, and persistence in problem solving.  I have hundreds of hours of training in child development, parent training, family systems, sensory processing issues, ADHD, behavior management, communication, leadership, and the complexity of co-parenting children across two homes, which as a child of divorce myself, is very dear to my own heart.  My goal is to partner with each parent, family, and organization I serve to create a value-added experience for all involved.

Fun Facts about me:

  • I was a theatre major in college for a short time.  Creative minds are seldom tidy!
  • When not watching Netflix documentaries, I love to spend time with my family, be outdoors (preferably near a beach), read, and take vacations.  I think great vacations take a lot of practice!
  • I am the youngest of my parents’ 4 children and grew up in Hays, Kansas.  I love my hometown.  Oktoberfest, anyone?
❝ ★★★★
Her lessons are clear, concise and to the point. Do they totally eliminate co parenting conflict? ….of course not but if parents follow her guidance they can certainly mitigate it. I really don’t know what my coparenting life would look like if it wasn't for Mika. She gave me the confidence to trust the process and more importantly (in my case anyway) know what my rights are as a father and when to defend those rights.

She has been an incredible advocate and resource for me, providing invaluable support, knowledge, and guidance. The co-parenting class I took with her was especially impactful, helping me navigate the challenges of single parenting with wisdom, boundaries, and a peaceful approach. Her insights have been instrumental in shaping how I handle difficult situations with humility rather than reactivity. Mika’s dedication to helping parents create healthy environments for their children is truly amazing. Her ability to equip families with tools for success while offering genuine care and encouragement sets her apart. I am very grateful for the role she has played in my journey, and I highly recommend her services to anyone in need of support.
